We write research-first articles on magnesium glycinate and sleep — pulling claims back to primary sources, disclosing study limitations, and updating when the evidence moves.
SleepStack started with a single observation: most magnesium articles online repeat the same handful of misframings. The headline studies get cited without their actual sample sizes; specific bioavailability percentages get attributed to papers that don't contain those numbers; brand reviews fail to disclose industry funding.
We built this site to do that better. Every research claim on SleepStack is traced back to a primary source. Every study citation is checked against the actual paper, not a summary. When a finding is mixed, conflicting, or low-quality evidence, we say so plainly. When a paper is industry-funded, we disclose it. When we can't find a citation that supports a popular claim, we don't make the claim.
The product side is simpler: a single-ingredient magnesium bisglycinate at 275mg elemental per serving. The dose sits in the middle of the range used in clinical sleep research. The form is the one most often cited in sleep and anxiety literature. The label math matches the chemistry.
Our editorial standards
Primary-source verification
Every research claim links to a PMID where one exists. Where claims are based on textbook chemistry or NIH fact sheets, we say so. Where a frequently-cited number turns out to be folklore (the discredited '80% glycinate / 4% oxide' bioavailability myth, for example), we don't repeat it.
Industry-funding disclosure
If a cited paper is funded by a supplement company, we say so. Where the brand reviewing a product is the manufacturer's competitor (or the manufacturer themselves), we say so.
Outcome-level honesty
When a trial is mixed (e.g., significant on one endpoint, null on another), we report both. When a meta-analysis flags its own evidence as 'low to very low quality' (Mah & Pitre 2021 on magnesium for sleep, for instance), we surface that caveat alongside the headline finding.
Public verification log
Our internal source-verification notes are kept in the project repository, including which papers have been checked against the original PDF (Tier 1) versus only the abstract (Tier 2). Corrections are made via traceable git commits.
Sourced-as-of dating
Every article carries a 'Sources current as of [date]' note in the footer. Product specs, pricing, and the research base all change — we hedge editorially rather than pretend stability. Time-sensitive claims (especially product labels and pricing) should always be verified independently before action.
